Glenndale Days 2007

About Glenndale Days
Every year, Glenndale Airport comes alive in the fall for Glenndale Days. During the event, we offer rides in
our "regular" airplanes, rides in rare WWII airplanes, parachute jumping, aerobatic rides, BBQ lunches and much
more.
Our Kids' Play Area has a Moonbounce activity and is adult supervised at all times. If you
need someone to watch your little ones while you go on a ride, drop them off at the Play Area and we'll take care of them,
free of charge.
What many people do NOT know is that Glenndale Days is a charity event. The proceeds of the event go to help
children and families suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). When you take a ride in the AT-6 Texan,
you're not only getting the thrill of a lifetime. You're also helping children suffering from SMA to breathe,
eat, be medicated and monitored, and helping families to communicate and cope.

The Rides
 |
By far our most popular attraction, Tom Wood of the Tom Wood
Automotive Group generously donates the use of his AT-6 Texan for your enjoyment. The AT-6 was used as a trainer for
Allied pilots during WWII.
Even today, pilots must first prove themselves in the AT-6 before flying a P-51 Mustang for the
first time. The AT-6 sports a thundering 600 HP Pratt and Whitney radial piston engine. AT-6 rides are $100 per
person, with one passenger per ride.
|
 |
The Boeing Stearman saw service in WWII as a primary training aircraft, and is also a crowd favorite. It sports
a 220 HP Continental piston radial engine and an open cockpit. Stearman rides are $80 per person, with one passenger
per ride.
|
 |
The Air Indiana Skydiving Center
of Flora, IN comes and offers parachute jumping out of Glenndale Airport during the event. You'll jump
from around 10,000 feet in tandem with a qualified jump instructor (as pictured). Parachute jump
availability is weather sensitive. If you're interested in a jump during the event, and the sky is overcast,
give us a call (765-883-5440) to verify availability. Parachute jumping is $200 per person.
|
 |
Our entire fleet of aircraft turns out to offer aerial tours of Kokomo at Glenndale Days. We'll take you on a 15-20
minute cruise around (and above) town for $20. Children under 12 accompanied by an adult ride for $5. Your tour
pilot will be happy to answer any questions about flying you might have. We may even let you take the controls and
fly the airplane yourself for a minute!
|
Fly-bys
 |
Come at the right time, and you may see one of nearby Grissom ARB's KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft flying by. |
 |
Nathan Davis will guide his P-51 Mustang, "Checkertail", screaming down the Glenndale runway at various times during the event.
For more on Nathan and "Checkertail", see
Warbird Depot.

Prizes
We also raffle off various prizes. You can enter the raffle at any time during the event. The drawing takes place at the end
of the event, on Sunday evening. Winners do not need to be present to claim their prize. Last year, we raffled off prizes such
as a pedal-powered airplane for kids, an hour of time in a KC-135 simulator, free flight time
in our aircraft and more!
